Sandra "Sandy" Marie Pendleton Arnett

November 11, 1960 - July 27, 2025

Sandra “Sandy” Marie Pendleton Arnett, age 64 of Rocky Mount, Virginia passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025 peacefully at home. Sandy was born in Roanoke, Virginia on November 11, 1960 to the late James “Jim” Pendleton and late Dora “Pinky” Pendleton, before moving with her family to Bassett, Virginia in 1970.

Sandy is survived by her husband of 30 years, Ernie Arnett. Sandy met Ernie thru her cousin, Patsy “Cupid” Gibson in 1994 and was married April 8, 1995. She has one sister, Donna Pendleton Anderson. Sandy was the proud aunt to Joey Anderson (Tiffany) and their children, Hynley and Maddux, and Jamie Anderson (Bresha) and their children, Levi, Ben, Dillon, Noah, Grace. She is also survived by her aunt, Marie Saul (late Col. Gordon Saul) and their children Kim Worrell (Hal) and Gordon Saul Jr; her late aunt, Julia Manning (late Melvin Manning) and their children, Patsy Manning (RJ) and Debbie Morris (Johnny); Uncle, Ray Fralin (Helen) and their children Vicki Gerhardt (Bill) and Tammy Mosier (Michael); as well as cousins, Lisa Knight (Todd) Lisa and Cathy Harrison (Mike) to her late uncle and aunt, Linwood and Eva Fralin.

Sandy was a member of Mount Hermon Church of the Brethren for fifty plus years where she attended faithfully. She graduated from Bassett High School and received an associate’s degree from Patrick & Henry Community College.

Sandy was exceptional when it came to crafts. She enjoyed making quilts, table runners, pocketbooks and other items for others. She also enjoyed taking classes and learning how to make new items. She was a member of the Lake Quilters’ Guild as well as the Peeks and Pieces Guild from Bedford. Sandy always looked forward to going to the quilt shows in Fredricksburg, VA and Raleigh NC every year. Later in life she got to work at C S Threadz in Westlake, Virginia. There, she was able to use her joy for quilting to help others. Sandy also had a love for music, especially the band, Alabama. Her and Ernie attended concerts from Virginia down through South Carolina.

In her later years, Sandy fought a tough battle with End Stage Renal Disease and Stage 4 melanoma.

A viewing will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 with a funeral service on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Both services will be held at Flora Funeral Service in Rocky Mount, Virginia. Pastors Rick Randall and Noel Naff will be conducting the service. A burial service will immediately follow the funeral at Mt. Hermon Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Bassett, Virginia. The family invites you to join them in the Mount Hermon Church Fellowship Hall for a meal after the graveside service.

A special thank you to Karen Hodges, her home health care nurse for Fresenius Dialysis center Martinsville, VA. She excelled in taking care of Sandy and made it possible for her to be able to do dialysis at home over the past two plus years. Dr. Parikh with Southside Nephrology and Urology for working with Sandy since 2022 with her ESRD and dialysis needs. His work with Karen to make sure Sandy had what she needed to continue her life on dialysis. Dr. W.B Lewis with Carilion family care. He was her Primary care doctor for almost 40 years. Thank you to Mountain Valley Palliative/Hospice care for the excellent care they gave Sandy during the final months of her life.
