Sarah Ann Dillon

April 27, 1942 - August 24, 2025

Sarah Ann Howell Dillon, 83, graduated from this world to Glory on Sunday, August 24, 2025 at Berkshire Health and Rehab Center following an extended battle with

Alzheimer’s.

Sarah was born in Roanoke, and grew up in Botetourt County, graduating from Lord Botetourt High School. She also graduated from Shenandoah Bible College. She was first employed at K-Mart then she worked at the Roanoke Gas Company until 1984 when she married the love of her life, Bobby Dillon.

Sarah was very active with Mary Kay, and enjoyed interacting with people and she had a strong love of her dog, Kutter. Also, Sarah was a very strong Christian example to everyone she met.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred (Shorty), and Mary Howell and her cousin, Joyce Vert, as well as her husband of 38 years, Bobby Joe Dillon. She is survived by her sisters, Mary and husband Guy Bethel of Vinton, Margaret and husband William Hurd of Roanoke and brother Alfred (Tommy) and wife Bonnie Howell, Jr. of Roanoke, one cousin, Shirley Henson and numerous nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to the Carilion Hospice team for their wonderful staff and special care that was given to Sarah and the family. Also, a thank you to the Unit 3 staff for the last three weeks with Sarah for the extra attention given to comfort and care for her and the family. Thank you to all that prayed and supported her and her family behind the scenes.

A visitation will be held Friday, September 5 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 with a Memorial Service to follow at 11:30 in the Chapel of Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke with Lay-Minister Bob Worley, Chaplin for Berkshire Health and Rehab Center Vinton officiating. Inurnment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at 5737 Airport Road, Roanoke, Virginia.
