Sarah Catherine Easter

Sarah Catherine McMillian Easter, age 85, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday morning, October 17, 2025, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Sarah was born in Carroll County, Virginia on September 1, 1940, to the late Claude McMillian and Martha Guynn McMillian. She worked for many years at Sara Lee in the quality control department. Sarah was a loving mother, grandmother, sibling and friend, she’ll be deeply missed by all who knew her. She loved to work in her yard and tend to her flower gardens. Sarah was a member of The Peoples Church where she gave her heart to the Lord and attended faithfully as long as her health permitted. Left to cherish her memories are sons and daughter-in-law, Randy Jackson and Sheila, Fredrick Jackson and Teresa, Scott Jackson; step grandchildren, Misty Karriker and Dustin, Crystal Rutledge and Jeff; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sally Jordan, Ann Ayers and Troy, Jean Goad and Glary; brothers and sister-in-law, Burt McMillian and Brenda, Jasper “Jack” McMillian; her dog, Turner. In addition to her parents, Sarah was preceded in death by her son, Jay Jackson. A celebration of Sarahs’ life will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at 2:00 PM at The Peoples Church with the Rev. Eugene Brinkley officiating. Burial will follow at in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice for the exceptional care given to Sarah during her sickness. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Moodys of Mount Airy is respectfully serving the Easter family.
