Sarah Irene "Rinkie" Baldwin Morgan
Sarah Irene "Rinkie" Baldwin Morgan left her struggles and pain of dementia behind as she joined her Lord and her beloved husband of 46 years, Donald Tinsley Morgan, in heaven. Her much-loved daughter, Donna Leigh Morgan Smith, preceded her in death on November 16, 2022. Her parents, Lena Kegley Baldwin and Howard Lewis Baldwin, her sister, Christine Baldwin Overstreet, and her dear grandson, Christopher D. Smith happily welcomed her to the mansion prepared for her in heaven.Left to cherish her memory are daughter, Sarah Morgan Janney (Gary); grandchildren Donald Smith (Christina), Stephen Smith (Jenni), Craig Janney (Amy Snider), Bruce Janney (Erin), and Tara Smith; great grandchildren David Smith, Hunter Hooper, Tinsley Janney, and Emma and Hayden Janney. Also surviving are close nephews John Overstreet (Dottie), Larry Overstreet (Grace), Edward Morgan, close cousins Betty Wright Dooley and Kathleen Dooley Wolfe, and great nieces and nephews as well as many loving family and friends.Irene graduated from William Byrd High School where she played basketball and was a majorette. She worked at D & M Grocery, the country store she and Don owned with his sister Eva Dickerson and her husband Acie Dickerson for 12 years, and enjoyed some of the best times of their lives with their wonderful customers. Helping people was so satisfying for Irene, so she then worked for Mick-or-Mack in Vinton and Harris Teeter, before retiring from Kroger. Irene was a member of Goodview Baptist Church for 70 years, and she and Donald served as Treasurer for 50 years. She also was a favorite Sunday School teacher. A special thanks to her nurses, CNA's, and staff at Pheasant Ridge Nursing Home for taking such good care of Irene. Irene's strength, wisdom, intelligence, and loving kindness were admired by her children and many others. In her memory, be that kind, loving person who welcomes strangers as friends.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 9, 2022 at Lotz Funeral Home in Vinton with Rev. Joey Phillips and Rev. Craig Janney officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 8, 2022 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
