Sarah Katherine Wellford

Sarah Katherine Wellford departed this life October, 29, 2022. She was the daughter of Judy Karen Stuart and Vernon Stanley Wellford of Mechanicsville, VA.
Sarah graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Microbiology and was starting into her second year pursuing a PhD in Microbiology an Immunobiology at the University of Miami, focusing on the cure for Type I diabetes. Sarah had become a diabetic in her early teens. Never complaining but going forward. Her parents saw that she led a normal and happy childhood, participating in the swim team, tennis team, ice skating, roller skating, piano, voice and participating in the school’s theater productions. Sarah loved dancing and performing, leaving those left behind beautiful memories.
Left to cherish her memory are her parents, Judy Karen Stuart & Vernon Stanley Wellford; her grandmother, Dare (Harry) Dillman; her aunt, Mary Boitnott; her uncle Robert (Tammy) Stuart; and her cousins, John Boitnott, Kendell (Nicole)Lewis, Hunter (Caroline) Stuart, Charlie Lewis, Tadley Walker Stuart and Jobee Reed Stuart.
The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, telephone calls, texts, visits, cards and kindness shown.
A memorial service was held at Duncan Memorial Methodist Church on Saturday, November 13, 2022 with a reception following at Virginias Crossing.
