Sarah Scott Shelton

Sarah Scott Shelton, 76, of Bassett , slipped away to be at rest, on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Sovah – Health Martinsville. Sarah was born on Thursday, June 27, 1946 to the late Frederick Scott Jr. and Dorothy Geter Scott. In addition to Sarah’s parents , she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Hepisy S. Mitchell.

Sarah was a member of High Ridge Missionary Baptist Church for a number of years.

Sarah is survived by her loving husband of 54 years , James “Teddy” Edward Shelton Sr, of the home ; a son, James “ Jay “ Edward Shelton Jr. of Danville, VA. , a brother ; Frederick Sinclair Scott ( Karen) of Sherman, TX., Two sisters, Gwenevere S. Dockett (Julius) of Converse TX., and Brenda S. Kirby (Donald) of Martinsville, VA.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM – 12:00 PM on Friday , January 27, 2023 at the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel . Homegoing Celebration will begin at 12:00 PM with Rev. Charles Whitfield and Rev. Keishawn Nibblett officiating. Interment will follow at the Wade Family Cemetery on Rock Hill Community Rd.
