Sherman Willie Gravely

Sherman Willie Gravely, 79, of Martinsville, Virginia passed away Friday, January 17, 2025. He was born July 6, 1945, in Martinsville, Virginia to the late Thomas Gravely and Virginia Pearl Martin Gravley.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Hairston Gravely; son, Kenneth Hairston, and Sherwin Gravely; sisters, Annie Mae Gravely, Doretha Starling, and Katherine Hairston; brothers, Richard Gravely, and Raymond Gravely.Sherman was a member of St Luke Pentecostal Holiness Church and a 1963 graduate of GW Carver. He was a dedicated employee of Fieldcrest Mills for more than thirty-five years. Sherman took pride in his work and enjoyed working on the farm, gardening, and working on vehicles.He is survived by his daughters, Cassandra Hairston, Shelby Waller, Sheila Gravely; brothers, Harry Gravely (Jackie), and John Gravely (Patricia); four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.The funeral will be held on Friday, January 24, at 1:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service with Bishop Jeffery Gravely officiating. Interment will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held one half hour prior to the service. A floating Visitation will be held Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PMWright Funeral Service & Crematory is serving the family.
