Shirley Adams

Shirley Carter Adams, 86, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Friday, June 21, 2024. She was born June 8, 1938, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Henry Emmett Carter, Sr. and Mary Alice Carter.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sam William Adams; sister, Barbara Carter Penn; brothers, Henry E. Carter, Jr., Leroy Carter, Herbert C. Carter, and Marvin Carter.Shirley was a member of the First Baptist Church of East Martinsville and Martinsville Church of Christ. She was a 1956 Carver High School graduate and was a dedicated seamstress for Pannill Knitting for seventeen years. She loved the Lord, visiting her family and friends, and cooking. She was a dedicated caretaker and loved her family .She is survived by daughters, Drucilla Marsh (Tim), Jacqueline Adams, Janet Clodfelter (Fredrick), and Deborah Adams Moore; sister, Patricia Marsh (Vic); brothers, Rudolph Carter (Rudy) and Donald Ray Carter; two grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.The funeral will be held Friday, June 28, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Reverend John Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held thirty minutes prior to the service. A floating visitation will be held Thursday, June 27, 2024, from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel.Wright Funeral Service & Crematory is serving the family.
