Shirley Banks Johnson

Shirley Banks Johnson departed this life on Friday, February 6, 2026 at Heritage Hall Nursing Facility in Rich Creek, Virginia, following a long illness.

Shirley was born on July 29, 1948, in Giles County, Virginia, to the late Earnest Banks and Estell D. Banks.

She was a graduate of Giles High School and Bluefield State College. Shirley retired from Celanese Corporation in Narrows, Virginia, after many years of service. She was a faithful member of Mountain View Ministries in Narrows, Virginia.

Shirley was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Harry Johnson; her uncle, William Banks; and her sister-in-law, Brenda Johnson.

She is survived by her godson, Levi Gray; first cousins Mary Carol Dickerson Gray, Robert Dickerson (Kay), Stevie Dickerson (Tina), Jeanette Dickerson, and Drema Dickerson King (Greg); her sister-in-law, Barbara Johnson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a good friend, Beverley Conley.

The family will receive friends during a time of visitation on Wednesday, February 11, from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. at Kendall Funeral Home in Pembroke, Virginia. A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, February 11, at 1:00 p.m., at Kendall Funeral Home with Pastor Jimmy Hagy officiating.
