Shirley Dooley

Shirley Lou Dooley, 88, of Troutville went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 10, 2024.

She is survived by her son, Cline, and his wife Jennifer (grandson Cody) of Daleville, daughters Clinette Wilson of Troutville, Evelyn Sawyer of West Virginia (granddaughter Shawna), and Shirley Dunbar of Florida, many other grandchildren and great grandchildren, and long time family friend, Gary Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Lottie Leighton, and her husband, Cline Dooley, Sr.  

She loved her soap operas and working puzzle books. Known to many as the “Butterfly Lady”, she loved everyone, especially her family, and you weren’t going to tell her bye without a hug!  She was the sweetest Mom and Maw Maw in the world and will be missed by everyone who knew her.

The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home in Daleville on Monday, October 14, 2024 from 1:00 until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will follow in the chapel of Rader Funeral Home. Burial will be in Daleville Cemetery.

Special thanks to the staff at Berkshire Health and Rehabilitation Center in Vinton for taking such great care of Mom for the past several months.
