Shirley Fridley

Shirley May Fridley, age 86 of 122 East Phillip Street in Covington, Virginia died on Friday, March 6, 2026 at Payton Hospice House in Lewisburg, West Virginia.

Shirley was born on November 14, 1939 in Covington to the late Connie Caldwell Fridley and Druey May Bayne Fridley, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a seamstress for the former MDM of Covington for many years. She loved collecting antiques and jewelry. She enjoyed playing guitar, was a softball player for her Jane Colby team, and most of all enjoyed spending time with friends and family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Emma Rose, Helen Rawling, Muriel Webb, and Glenna Barnett, and four brothers, Connie Fridley, Jr., Clinton Fridley, Melvin Fridley, and Harold Fridley.

She is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Pastor Dean Bowser officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. Pallbearers will be Gene Rawling, Chase Kendall, Rennie Fridley, Mark Smith, Danny Fridley, and Barry Fridley. Gary Fridley will serve as an honorary pallbearer. The family will visit with friends on Friday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
