Shirley Glass Coles

Shirley Glass Coles, age 81 of Danville, Virginia passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at SOVAH Health in Danville, Virginia. Ms. Coles was born September 23, 1943 in Danville, Virginia to the late Eunice Price Hairston and the late William Glass.

She was a faithful member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses and was the director of Danville-Pittsylvania Community Services. She was an inspiration to all her family, and will always be remembered as a kind, compassionate, and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend to everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Coles; sons, Richard Coles, Jr. (Kimberly) and Hakim Sutton; grandchildren, Ashanti Coles (Ronte Harrington) and Iesha Coles Collier; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Hendrix, Rizza, Dream, Travis, and Jah’vier; her sisters, Georgia Glass and Shelby Harriston; and her nephew, Bryant Glass.

In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her sister, Flossie Mebane.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025, 11:00 a.m. at Norris Funeral Service, Mt. Hermon Chapel, 3995 Franklin Turnpike Danville, Virginia. A visitation will be held prior to the Celebration of Life from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., also at Norris Funeral Service.
