Shirley June Brookman

Shirley June Bayne Brookman, age 71, of 4309 Prices Bluff Road, Eagle Rock, Virginia passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem, Virginia.
She was born on March 31, 1953 in Sandy Springs, Maryland to the late Alfred Peter Bayne and Ruth Emily Minnick Bayne. She retired from Clifton Forge Public Library where she was a librarian. Shirley enjoyed cooking and baking, flowers, reading, quilting, and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jeannie Bayne.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Melvin Lee Brookman, Jr.; a son, Brian Roy Brookman and wife Terra; three daughters, Tammy Marie Smith and husband Roy of Covington, Brenda Lee Campbell and husband Matt of Clifton Forge, and Trisha Persinger and husband Bradley of Covington; a brother, Pete Bayne and wife Missy; four sisters, Josie Bayne, Marie Osborne, Patty James and husband John, and Ginny Manning; nine grandchildren, Cody and significant other Sarah Belle, Clay, A.J., Gabbie, Gracie, Brandi, Emmalee, Adalyn, and Brooklyn; three great-grandchildren, Weston, Harper, and Isaac; a host of nieces and nephews; and a number of special friends.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 3:31 in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Evangelist Shane Hiner officiating. The family will receive on Saturday afternoon from 2:30 PM until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home. Following the service, her body will be cremated.
