Shirley Mitchell Lawrence

Shirley Mitchell Lawrence, 73, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2024. She was born June 5, 1951, in Rocky Mount, Virginia to the late Clyde Belmont Mitchell and Helen Tucker Mitchell.In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, William Scott Amos.Shirley was a charter member of Friendly Christian Church. She was employed in the textile industry for many years. She enjoyed learning and taking classes at Patrick Henry Community College in art, painting, and sculpturing. She enjoyed doing hair and loved working with children. Shirley would be described as a Proverbs 31 woman; wife and mother.She is survived by her loving husband of forty-eight years, Douglas Paul Lawrence; daughter, Valerie Lynn Lawrence; son, Brian Christopher Lawrence; sisters, Marie Mitchell Knox, Bonnie Mitchell Sullivan and Linda Mitchell Johnson; grandson, Daniel Amos; and three great grandchildren.The funeral will be Saturday, June 15, 2004, at 1:00 PM at Friendly Christian Church with Pastor Roy Moulden officiating. Burial will follow at Friendly Christian Church Cemetery, 735 Friendly Church Road, Martinsville, Virginia 24112.
