Sidney Allen Whitlow

Sidney Allen Whitlow Sr., 88, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Caswell County, NC on July 24, 1936 to the late Mary Blankenship Whitlow and the late Hartwell Whitlow. He was also predeceased by his loving wife of many years, Mrs. Betty Jean Shelton Whitlow.

Sidney was of the Christian faith, and a faithful member of Central Boulevard Church of God. He worked for many years at Roman Eagle Nursing Home, previous to his retirement.

Sidney is survived by a daughter; Mary Whitlow Motes and husband Tony of Anderson, SC; a son; Sidney A. Whitlow Jr. of Danville, VA; three grandchildren; Martha Richards, Destiny Motes, and April Shelton; three great grandchildren; Rebekkah Richards, Victoria Richards, and J.J. Shelton; and three great-great grandchildren; Grayson Richards, Jaxan Richards, and Ember Atkins.

In addition to his wife and parents, Sidney was predeceased by six sisters; Alma Olessey, Lucindy Knight, Virginia Bernard, Grace Fink, Christine Walker, and Rose Hodges; and six brothers; Delma Whitlow, Samson Blankenship, Frank Whitlow, Orvin Whitlow, Hampton Whitlow, and Jesse Whitlow.

A Graveside Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at 11:00am at Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Danville, VA.
