Specialist Colton Poague

Specialist Colton Gil Poague, age 23,of Leesville, LA, passed away June 15, 2024. He was the husband of Aaryn Attales Poague. He was preceded in death by two very special Paw Paws, Berkley Key and Jon Gilbert.
Born November 15, 2000 in Alleghany County, Colton was the son of Ronnie & Wendy Poague. He was serving his country as a member of the United States Army, stationed at Fort Polk, as a member of the 509th airborne division. He was a former member of McAllister Church. Colton was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, riding horses and spending time with his brothers in arms. Most of all, Colton loved spending time with his family especially his wife and their three sons. Much of his time off duty he could be found on a riverbank fishing with his boys. He had a love for music and anyone who spent time with Colton likely has a story of him singing along at any get together.
In addition to his wife and parents, Specialist Poague is survived by three sons, Case, Cane, & Carter; his sister Taylor Poague Byer & husband, Luke; his nephew Case Byer; paternal grandmother Pam Key; maternal grandmother Anne Gilbert; aunt and uncle, Terrie & CE Vass, aunts Meg Hicks & Molly Gilbert and a multitude of other close family.
Colton never met a stranger and leaves behind a host of friends, too many to list but notably a close group of family friends he lovingly referred to as his “Square Family”.
A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, June 29th, 2024 at 2:00pm at Alvon Living Word Church at 9434 Pocahontas Trail, White Sulphur Springs West Virginia, with Robert McClintic officiating.
