Spencer Gray Tinkham
Mr. Spencer Gray Tinkham of Mount Airy, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 22, 2025, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina, comforted by his wife. He was 79 years old.
Spencer was born in Columbus, Ohio, on February 18, 1946, to Charles G. and Nina Huff Tinkham. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Charles G. Tinkham, Jr.; and a sister, Claire Craft. He is survived by his wife, Marion Fales Tinkham; his children, Jennifer Leventhal (Josh), Ross Tinkham (Stephanie), and Meredith Parkinson (David); and a nephew, Aaron Rothman (Brooke Corley). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Eden and Asher Leventhal, Matthew, Eva, and Chloe Tinkham, and Graham and Callum Parkinson; and his great-nephew Evan Rothman.
Spencer graduated from Whitehall-Yearling High School in 1963. He then went on to proudly serve in the United States Air Force for four years, mainly at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio and several months at Loring Air Force Base in Maine and was honorably discharged on August 13, 1970.
Spencer worked for IBM and was inducted into the IBM Quarter Century Club in recognition of his 25 years with IBM on December 24, 2002. He retired from IBM several years later.
Spencer was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing with his family. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and love of his family.
In keeping with his wishes, no formal visitation or service will be held.
