Stanley Akers

Stanley Lee Akers, 69, of Narrows, VA, passed away Friday, October 3, 2025, at his home.  Stanley was born on July 7, 1956, in Pearisburg, VA and was a son of the late Henry Arthur Akers and Hazel Elana Wheeler Akers.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Larry Akers and Phillip Tyler Akers. Stanley was a 1974 graduate of Narrows High School.  He retired from Celanese Corp. after 32 years of service.  He loved working on cars, especially his 06 Late Model racecar at the Pulaski County Speedway and his many hotrods.  He loved animals, racing, and farming. He loved his kids with all of his heart. He had many pets throughout his life that would ride with him everywhere he went.  He had a lot of relatives and friends from all over who he really counted on and always appreciated them for everything they did to help him. He is survived by 3 sons, Chastin and wife Morgan of Pearisburg, Ethan and wife Calissa of Lexington, NC, Daniel of Narrows, 2 daughters, Chelsey and husband Josh of Short Hills, NJ, Kristen of Pulaski, 7 grandchildren, Reece, Brielle, Ruby, Raegan, Ricky, Braelyn, & Brynlee, 1 brother, Mark Akers (Donna) of Narrows, 3 sisters, Linda Whisman (Dink) of Roanoke, Sarah Hyatt of Narrows, Rebecca Epling (Jeff) of Rich Creek. A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at the Givens – Riffe Funeral Chapel at 2pm with Pastor Jerry Hagerman officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home 1 hour before the service, from 1 - 2.  The family is being served by Givens – Riffe Funeral Service in Narrows, (540) 726-2442, and online at riffefuneralservice.com.
