Stanley Douglas Gray

Stanley Douglas Gray, Jr., 68, of Forest, Virginia, went to be with his Lord on Friday, May 23, 2025.

Born in Knoxville, Tennessee, on July 5, 1958, Stan was the son of the late Stanley Douglas Gray and Margaret Rudder Gray.

Stan proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Following his service, he dedicated 34 years to Centra Health as an MRI Technician, where he was known for his compassion, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to his patients and colleagues.

A man of many passions, Stan was an avid collector of comic books, particularly Marvel and DC titles, with a lifelong love for superheroes and their stories of courage and justice. He was also a dedicated runner who found joy and peace on the trails of Poplar Forest.

Stan's life was deeply rooted in his Christian faith. He attended of Rock Pike Baptist Church, where he consistently studied his Bible and lived out his beliefs with quiet strength and humility.

To his family, Stan was a kind, sweet soul, a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather. He cherished time with his grandchildren and leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and gentleness.

Stan is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Denise M. Gray; three loving daughters, Rebecca Hoover (Justin), Martha E. Gray, and Sarah A. Clay (Dwight); and five cherished grandchildren, Malena Metts, Dakota Clay, Dylan Clay, Sophia Clay, and Maxon Fickle. He is also survived by his sister, Peggy Andrus (John); brother, James B. Gray (Betty); two nephews, James Andrus and Jason Andrus; his nieces, Cynthia Terrell and Jennifer Seay Green; and his sister-in-law, Patricia Ferguson.

In accordance with Stan’s wishes, no services are scheduled.
