Stella Elizabeth Markham

Stella Elizabeth Hammock Markham, 78, of Axton, Virginia passed away Saturday, February 18, 2023 at her home. She was born May 27, 1944 in Danville, Virginia to the late Lewis and Bessie Mae Hammock. She was married to the late Raymond Malloy Markham. She was a coordinator at Bassett Walker. She was a member of Fairhaven Assembly of God in Rocky Mount. She enjoyed quilting, flowers, gardening, making clothes and wedding dresses, cooking, and decorating wedding cakes. In addition to her parents, Stella was preceded in death by sisters, Effie Mae Walker, Scarlet Patricia Hammock, and Brenda Gayle Davis. Stella is survived by her daughter, Sheryl Markham; son, Earl Markham (Elizabeth); grandchildren, April Wright, Cherise Brown, Jeffery Markham, Lewis Markham, Robert Zimmerman, Matthew Zimmerman; step-grandson, Kevin Zimmerman; great grandchildren, Taylor Lovette, Aria Wilson, Alesha Zimmerman, Braylon Dishmon, Freya Zimmerman, Callie Zimmerman, Andrew Zimmerman, Dustin James Zimmerman, Stella Elizabeth Markham, and Carly Zimmerman. The funeral will be Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 4:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Randy Sawyers officiating. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service.
