Stephen Edward Hunt

Stephen Edward Hunt passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 18, 2024.  He was born in Washington, D.C. on May 20, 1949 to Robert Edward Hunt and Betty Anderson Hunt.  The suburbs of DC were his home until he proudly graduated from St. John's College High School.

Steve graduated from Johns Hopkins University and after spending his High School and College years in ROTC, his military service took him to Fort Ord, CA and St. Louis, MO.  After receiving his MBA at Cornell University, Steve served a year in Korea, and then returned to the states as an Army Captain and lived in Charleston, SC.  His career as a Senior Contract Negotiator was spent at ITT in Roanoke, VA; at Kollsman, Inc. in Merrimack, NH; at Bell Helicopter in Arlington, TX; and at Textron Marine Land Systems in Slidell, LA, before retiring back in Roanoke.  Over the years, some of Steve's favorite times were spent camping and canoeing with family and friends, especially at Lake Umbagog in NH.

Steve is survived by his loving wife, Judith Ann Hunt; daughter, Laura Millen and husband John; son, Douglas Hunt; daughter, Deanna Pearson and husband Ted; step-daughter, Paige Lafon and husband Barry; step-daughter, Laura Price and husband Ozzie; step-son, Maurice King, Jr. and wife Sonja; fourteen loving grandchildren spread around the country; and by his sister, Gail Quinn and husband Mike.

The love shared and help given to Steve by all at Salem Terrace will always be remembered.

A Celebration of Steve's Life will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road.  The family will receive friends at a reception  immediately following the service.  Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home.  540 366 0707.
