Stephen Puckett
Stephen Puckett, age 68, of Daleville, VA, went peacefully to be with Jesus in the late hours of Sunday, March 1, 2026.
A devoted man of God, Steve lived his life anchored in his faith in Jesus, humility, and quiet strength. He believed deeply in the power of prayer, the comfort of Scripture, and the promise that God walks with us through every fire and valley. His life was a living testimony to grace, perseverance, and trust in God's plan - even during seasons of illness and hardship.
To those who knew him best, Steve was steady, gentle, and deeply loyal. He loved his family fiercely and considered it one of his greatest blessings to be a husband, father, and Paw Paw. He led not with loud words, but with a servant's heart - always ready to help, listen, or offer encouragement when it was needed most.
Steve found peace in his faith and strength knowing that this world was not his final home. His hope was rooted in Christ. He accepted Jesus as personal Savior in November of 1991 and from that moment, his life was changed and he wanted everyone to know what Jesus had done in his life. He was a longtime member of Green Ridge Baptist Church.
One of the greatest expressions of his faith was his heart for people. He traveled on mission trips to Uganda with his wife Cindy and his daughter, Jennifer. He made the trip 24 times. serving others and sharing the hope of the Gospel with humility and compassion. From the medical clinics, pastor's conferences, and hut to hut evangelism, Steve shared Jesus with anyone who would listen. Only heaven knows the impact he had. Closer to home, Steve helped start and grow a jail ministry at the Roanoke County Jail with his special friend, Gene Murphy. He faithfully showed up to bring encouragement, Scripture, and the love of Christ to men who desperately needed hope. He believed no one was beyond God's grace.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Cindy, his daughter, Jennifer (Chris), his 2 grandchildren Jarred Lutz and Easton Firebaugh, sisters Brenda Draper, Lisa Delp, and Carol Sarver (Kevin), brother Kenny Perdue (Jackie), and many extended family members and friends who were touched by his kindness and example.
Services will be held on March 6, 2026 at Rader Funeral Home in Daleville, VA. Visitation is scheduled for the evening of March 5, 2026. From 5pm to 8pm with Rick Via and Greg Moser officiating.
