Steve Allen Harris

Steve A. Harris, 84, of Goode, passed away Monday, October 6, 2025, at his residence following a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease and coping with chronic pain following spinal surgery.  He was the Shop Foreman for Overnight Transportation in Roanoke where he took early retirement after 25 years of service.

He was a car enthusiast and owned many hot rods and classic cars over the years; he was particularly fond of El Caminos. He had the ability to build engines and perform complete restorations. He was a “Chevy Man” and took every opportunity to joke around with anyone who drove other brands, especially Ford’s.

Steve was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Sandra Wilson Harris; both of his siblings, Greggory Harris and Rhonda Harris; and his parents, William Lee and Dorothy Phillips Harris.

He is survived by his daughter, Angela Schmitt (Bob), of Goode and son, Scott Harris, of Bedford; two grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Hailey Harris and Dakota “Cody” Harris, both of Bedford; and his best buddy and companion “Flash” his shih tzu, who will miss him terribly.

The family will receive friends at Updike Funeral Home, Bedford on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 4-5:30 pm. Services and burial are private. The family request that In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to a local humane society or to your favorite charity.
