Steven "Steve" Perritt
On December 23, 2023, Steven “Steve” Perritt, 64 of Salem, VA, went home to rest with his personal Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was born on February 14, 1959, to Walter Perritt Jr and Isla Mae Perritt.
He was born in Georgetown, South Carolina and starting from a young age, people at his church would call him “Little Preacher Man”. This is because he was there every time the doors opened. His Sunday school teacher, Horace Parker, made such an impression on him that Steve would never forget him.
Steve was blessed with the talent of singing and playing the banjo. He loved playing with the band “Just for Fun” with friends. They even played at the Galax Fiddlers Convention. He loved music. His favorite was Old Time Gospel, Country and Shag. He and Sheila loved to Shag dance. They would take trips to North Myrtle Beach for SOS and Shag dance. North Myrtle beach was their favorite beach to hang out with their friends, dance and enjoy the beach. He always met new people who became good friends and enjoyed playing cornhole with them.
Steve also loved sports. He was a huge fan of the South Carolina Gamecocks and the University of Virginia Cavaliers. His favorite NFL team was the Miami Dolphins. He loved watching football with friends, especially UVA games with Dave Clark. He loved talking sports with Steve “Lew” Lewis weekly and enjoyed hanging out with his neighbor Tony Williams. Steve and Sheila hosted family and friends and it was always a great time hanging out, eating, playing games and relaxing by the pool.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents Walter Perritt Jr and Isla Mae Perritt. Those left to cherish the memories are his loving wife of 35 years Sheila Perritt; Daughter Kendall Perritt; and three grandchildren, Madison Perritt, Dalton Damiano, and Bristol Bouseman.
Also surviving are his brothers Harold Perritt (Bonnie), Mitchell Perritt, Mike Perritt (Kathy), and his sister Cindy Howard (Van). He had several nieces and nephews that he adored.
