Sue Barker Chattin

March 18, 1940 - November 10, 2025

Sue Barker Chattin, 85, passed away on November 10, 2025. Sue was born on March 18, 1940, to parents Harvey James Barker and Lucille Wells Barker.

Sue was of the Methodist faith and was a longtime member of Fairview Methodist Church. She worked for 43 plus years as a Certified Urological Nurse at the Danville Urologic Clinic. Upon her retirement she volunteered at her church and enjoyed going to Sunset Beach with her family.

She was always serving others, placing others before herself. She was an excellent cook and made the best chocolate pies. If you needed her to bake something, she could make it.

She adored her grandkids and was so delighted when they came to see her. She loved all three unconditionally as only a grandparent could.

Sue is survived by her husband Jim Chattin, Jr., her daughter Teresa Whitt (Bobby), and her son Robert Chattin (Marti), all of Danville, VA. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Rachel Elizabeth Whitt, Peyton Olivia Chattin, and Spencer Wyatt Chattin, as well as one sibling, Wayne Barker, and numerous nephews and nieces.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by eight siblings: Margaret Hepler, “Duck” Barker, Laura Brendle, Harrell Barker, Bill Barker, Ann Gravitte, Frances Kirby, and Dailey Hardee.

A private visitation for family members will be held at Norris Funeral Service, West End Chapel on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Danville Memorial Gardens, Danville, VA. All of Sue’s family and friends are invited to attend the graveside service to honor her life.
