Sue Richardson Doyle
Sue Richardson Doyle, 81, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, fell asleep in death on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at her home in Roanoke, VA, with her loving family by her side. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 57 years, Richard C. Doyle; her loving mother, Nellie Richardson; and her father, Fred Richardson.
From an early age, she had a deep desire to have a relationship with God. After reading and learning from the Bible about Jehovah’s love for her, she dedicated her life to Him in 1958 at the age of 14. Her love for Jehovah God and His Son directed all aspects of her life. She wanted to reflect Jesus’s example and therefore tried always to be kind, loving, and generous to all.
As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, she loved to teach others about her hope and about the loving God she served. She was a hard worker and retired from GE after 37 years. She was the best mama anyone could ask for—loving and supportive, always making sure you knew you were loved and cared for, not just in words but in deeds.
Sue loved cooking and providing food for anyone who was sick or simply needed a helping hand. She was the quiet strength of her family, ensuring everyone felt welcome in her home and like part of the family. Many friends stayed at her house over the years and always felt her warmth and hospitality.
Her hope was sure, and her faith was strong. She looked forward to God’s promises of seeing her husband and mother again, everyone perfect and free from pain in a paradise earth. She will be deeply missed, but we know she rests safely in Jehovah’s memory, just sleeping until He calls her name.
Remaining to cherish her memory are her devoted daughter, Kathy D. Harness, and loving son-in-law, Dale Harness; dear sisters, Sonja Wilson, Polly Ferguson, and Pat Linville; four nieces, two nephews, many great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and special family members Brenda LaPrade, Charlene and Brady Furrow, as well as many long-time friends.
The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Sue’s wonderful caregivers over the last few years—Althea Huff, Grace Kent, and Debra Hagins—who loved her as their own and became like family.
A memorial service will be held on November 8, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2241 Mill Lane, Salem, VA. Attendance via Zoom will also be available.
Lotz Funeral Home is privileged to serve Mrs. Doyle's family and condolences may be made on this page.
