Susan Arlene Moffitt

October 24, 1944 - July 17, 2025

Susan Arlene Moffitt, age 80 of Hardy, VA left this world to go home and be with her Lord in heaven on Thursday, July 17, 2025. She longed for the day she would be free from pain as her last few years on this earth she valiantly battled cancer and recovery from a horrific car accident.

Her four children watched in amazement as she embraced life and showed unimaginable joy through it all, telling everyone who visited or helped her that “God has been so good to me”. While they are assured, she is now singing zippity doo dah with Jesus, they already miss her terribly. She leaves behind her children, Eric Moffitt (Lorin), Debbie Shelton (Eddie), Kevin Moffitt, Darren Moffitt (Melissa); seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Her two sisters, Sharon Hamilton (Rich) and Beth Burton, will miss the sound of her sweet voice as they talked on the phone with her each day. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Golden; and her parents, Jim and Irma Burton.

Susan had an infectious joy about her, and a smile that lit up the room. She made friends instantly, everywhere she went. She lived with child-like wonder every day and was immeasurably grateful for the simple things in life. She was amazed by God’s creation, especially flowers! A celebration of life will be held at CrossPointe Church on Sunday, July 27, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. with a reception to follow. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Elizabeth Cemetery, 454 Kiowa AVE, Elizabeth CO 80107. Following the interment there will be a celebration of life and lite lunch at Darren & Melissa Moffitt’s home in Parker, CO.
