Susan Lynn Roland Reese

Susan Lynn Roland Reese, 68, of Roanoke passed away unexpectedly Monday, May 12, 2025 at her home.   

Sue was born May 8, 1957, to the late Clyde and Mildred Roland. Sue began what would become a career spanning more than 40 years as a Social Worker, Regional Director for the Western region, and assistant director with departments in Atlanta, Georgia, Washington D.C., Roanoke, Virginia, Richmond, Virginia and other nunerous counties in Virginia. During that time, Sue will be remembered by all who knew her as someone who was always lending a helping hand and guidence.   

Survivors include her loving husband of 19 years, Robert L. Reese; daughter, Jessica Newland; grandson who was her pride and joy, Ryan Newland; cousins, Chris Roland and Jim Roland; her godchildren, Raven and Chris Stewart; her special furbaby, Jack. Sue is also survived by countless friends and esteemed colleagues.   

In lieu of flowers, the family requests, donations be made in Sue’s memory to Roanoke Diversity Center, 425 Campbell Avenue, Suite 111, Roanoke, Virginia, 24016

The family will receive friends Friday, May 16, 2025, from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Lotz Funeral Home, 1001 Franklin Road, Roanoke. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Lotz Funeral Home with Pastor James Vega officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery (Melrose entrance).
