Susan Montgomery

Susan Montgomery Susan Ann Blankenship Montgomery, 70, of Narrows, VA., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 27, 2025.  Susie was born on January 28, 1955, in Pearisburg, VA, and was a daughter of the late Oakley Hobert Blankenship and Mildred Clarice Hare.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by 1 brother, Rufus Blankenship and a 1 brother-in-law, Dustin Pettrey. 

Susie was a lifetime resident of Narrows.  She retired from Brown and Root at Celanese with over 20 years of service.  She loved spending time at home with her family and cats (Smokey) and looking outside watching the deer and squirrels.

She is survived by her son, Michael Lee Blankenship of Narrows, longtime companion of 21 years, Stephen Wade of Narrows, 2 grandchildren, Bridgett Blankenship and Brooklyn Blankenship, 1 brother, Stanley Blankenship (Darlene) of Narrows, 1 sister, Janetta Pettrey of Lerona, WV, a niece, Ashley Jennings of Athens, a nephew, Matthew Pettrey (Mazy) of Lerona, WV and 5 great nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at the Givens – Riffe Funeral Chapel at 2pm with the Rev. Jerry Shepherd and Jube Burke officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home 1 hour before the service from 1 – 2 pm.  The family is being served by Givens – Riffe Funeral Service in Narrows, (540) 726-2442, and online at riffefuneralservice.com.
