Sylvia Ann Roberts

Sylvia Ann Roberts, 85, of Ridgeway, Virginia, passed away Friday, August 23, 2024. She was born in Eden, North Carolina, to the late Carlisle Troxler and Myrtle Anderson Barker.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-two years, Lee Daniel Roberts; and a son, Jason “Jay” Wayne Roberts.Sylvia loved to read, do crosswords, sew, work on jigsaw puzzles, and paint. She loved her pets; including dogs, piglets, and a squirrel. She enjoyed her and her son’s little chihuahua, “Elvis.” She loved being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sylvia enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes. She and Lee enjoyed spending Sundays at Mabry Mill listening to the music and having picnics. She was married to Lee at the age of fourteen when he introduced her to farming early on. Lee and Sylvia farmed for many years together. She also worked for Merita Bread Company, Rainbow Bread Store and AVON over the years.She is survived by her children, Donald “Don” Lee Roberts (Norie), Cathy Ann Ledden, James “Jimmy” Dale Roberts, Christopher “Chris” Mark Roberts; siblings, Jackie Brooks, Larry Barker, Allen Barker (Sue), Mike Barker (Teresa), and Ronnie Barker; grandchildren, Jessica Caycedo (Rick) and Jaylin Palmer; great-grandchildren, Laila Caycedo and Ryan Caycedo; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.The visitation will be Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel. The funeral will be after, at 2:00 PM with Bishop David Farmer officiating. Burial service will follow at the family cemetery, 563 Garrett Road, Ridgeway, Virginia 24148. Following directly after will be a family and friend gathering at the Ridgeway Community Center (Ruritan Building).Wright Funeral Service & Crematory is serving the family.
