Sylvia Coleman Johnston

Sylvia, 85, of Salem, Va., died Saturday, September 6, 2025. She is predeceased by her husband, Charles E. “Buck” Johnston; parents, Hillary and Florence Coleman; numerous siblings; and grandson, Adam, who passed in 2024. She is the mother of Leisa Thompson (Pete), Perry Terrell (Ann), Angela Simpson (Ralph), Lewis Johnston (Lita); grandchildren, Matthew, Ben, Amy, Andrea, Scott, David, Luke, and Adam who passed away in 2024; many great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews; etc.; and her sibling, Joyce Coleman. Known as the Yard Sale Queen (a favorite Saturday pastime). If you've had one, she was likely there. Not as a collector, but a bloodhound-bargain-hunter. She is loved, treasured, and missed. So glad Jesus paid it all, she will love that heaven is free. We long to join her one day on those streets of gold, clear as glass, in our forever home with our Lord and in our new bodies, without pain or death.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
