Sylvia Mccroskey Ferguson

Sylvia McCroskey Ferguson, 79, of Salem, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 16, 2025. Born August 10, 1946, in Martinsburg, West Virginia, to the late Woodrow and Myrtle Hockenberry Crockett, she is also predeceased by her husband, Walter Ferguson and her brother, Kenneth Knott.

Sylvia loved music, especially bluegrass and gospel. She was a long-time member of Riverside Evangelical Methodist Church in Salem, where she served and participated in many ministries and events. Sylvia also had friends at Sowders Chapel Baptist Church in Shawsville, with whom she regularly visited. Sylvia loved to travel and seek out new adventures. She also enjoyed dining out and sharing meals with friends and family.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her son, Timothy McCroskey and his wife, Dena; grandsons, Josh Fogle and his wife, Kayla, Noah McCroskey and his fiancée, Mikayla, Zach McCroskey; granddaughter, Connor Matherly; great-grandchildren, Trenton Fogle and Rebecca Fogle; as well as special extended family, Juanita Knott and Margie Quiett.

The family will welcome friends and family for a time of visitation on Monday, October 20, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., in the funeral chapel with Pastors Brian Gordon and Lanny Belcher officiating. Interment immediately following in Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem.
