Tamara Lynne Hairston

Tamara Lynne Hairston, 60, of Newport News, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Hampton VA Medical Center. She was born August 19, 1963 in West Virginia to the late John W. Hairston, Jr. and Geraldine Jones Giles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Gloria R. Hodge.

She proudly served her country in the United States Army for 20 years, and held the rank of Staff Sergeant and Recruiter. She enjoyed knitting, listening to music, art, reading the Word of God, and enjoying life. She loved her dog, Meko.

Tamara is survived by her sisters, Tina Roy (Marvin), Evangelist LaVonda C. Hairston, and Minister Andrea Hairston-Hatchett (Bernard); and brothers, Elder John W. Hairston, III (Paulette) and Elder Darrell Hairston.

Services will be held at a later date.
