Tammy Marie Norwood

Tammy Marie Norwood, 58, of Hurt, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Lynchburg General Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Born on November 13, 1966, in Creedmoor, North Carolina, Tammy was the daughter of the late Joe T. Norwood and Joyce Hicks Norwood. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Michelle N. Waite.

Tammy was known for her strong work ethic and spent many years as a machinist at Flowserve Corporation in Lynchburg. Outside of work, she embraced life with passion and spirit. A lover of motorcycles and the beach, she especially cherished her time at Myrtle Beach Bike Week. Her adventurous soul was matched by a warm heart and a creative touch, especially in the kitchen. Tammy had a special talent for baking and cake decorating, and her sweet creations brought joy to many.

She is lovingly survived by her two daughters, Christina McDonald of Gibsonville, NC, and Elizabeth McDonald of Reidsville, NC; and two brothers, Michael Norwood and Joe T. Norwood, Jr. Tammy's love extended to animals as well, especially cats—and her compassion and kindness were evident in the way she cared for them.

In accordance with her wishes, no services are scheduled at this time.

To honor Tammy’s memory, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to a humane society of your choice, in tribute to her lifelong love of animals.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
