Teddy Fields Cox
Mr. Teddy F. Cox, 86, peacefully departed his earthly life and ascended to his heavenly home surrounded by his devoted family on February 7, 2026. Teddy was born on December 17, 1939, to the late Clayton Fields Cox and the late Alene Cooke Cox in Westfield, North Carolina.Teddy graduated from Westfield High School in 1957 and proudly served in the United States Army with the 249th Engineer Battalion “Black Lions” stationed in Kaiserslautern, Germany. Following his military service,Teddy returned to Westfield and met his beautiful, sweet bride, Frances Lynn Loftis. On February 6, 1965, Teddy and Frances were united in holy matrimony, a union blessed with sixty-one years of love, unity, and two children: a wonderful son, Jerry Dean Cox and a loving and faithful daughter, Angela “Angie” Cox Chambers.Beyond being a devoted husband, outstanding father, and loving grandfather, Teddy was a lifelong, highly respected member of Westfield Baptist Church where he was ordained as a deacon and graciously served on various committees.A jack of all trades, Teddy will be remembered for his exceptional work ethics. He relished spending time outside, working on his farm, and generously lending his neighbors and friends a helping hand.He was curious by nature, and his inquisitiveness and keen intellect were the drive behind his pursuits and hobbies. Teddy enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and in his younger years, being on the water whether in his boat or skiing behind it. He enjoyed reading and discussing military history. He was an entertaining storyteller, notorious for assigning nicknames to his friends and quiet the comedian as his quick wit made everyone laugh.During his retirement years, he and Frances enjoyed traveling to visit family and attending reunions with former military comrades.Teddy worked for Pike Electric and Westinghouse Electric Corporation.Those left to cherish Teddy’s memory include his “Best Buddy” who Teddy loved like a son, Travis Chambers; a beautiful granddaughter, Kelsey Olivia Hutchens; his nieces and nephews and extended family; Teresa (Butch) Owen, Ken Shannon, Linda (Bob) Wolfson, Megan (Dan) Redmond, Terri Reavis, Jacob Gibbon; his beloved cousins, dear friends and amazing neighbors.He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved son, Jerry Dean Cox; his little brother, Jerry Clayton Cox; and his adoring sister, Carol Cox Shannon.A service celebrating Teddy’s life will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Westfield Baptist Church. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Jerry D. Cox Memorial Scholarship Fund, 630 South Main Street, Dobson, North Carolina 27017.The family would like to extend a special thank you to: James and Bonnie Jessup for being exceptional friends and neighbors for 58 years; you became family.
