Terence Sutherland

Terence Edwin “Terry” Sutherland, age 77, of 241 Scotchtown Draft Road, Millboro, Virginia died on Friday, June 13, 2025 at his residence.
Terry was born on October 9, 1947 in Grundy, Virginia to the late Edwin Stark Sutherland and Chloe Clevinger Sutherland. Following high school, he furthered his education, receiving his Master’s degree, and taught Special Education for Bath County Public Schools, retiring after 40 years. He also worked with Handicap Industries for 52 years, and loved to hunt and do woodworking.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Sam Sutherland.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Rader Sutherland of Millboro; two daughters, Kim Thompson Ford and fiancée Danny Pritt of Hot Springs and Julie Sutherland Powers and husband Phil of Abingdon; a son, Travis Sutherland and wife Viviana of Goose Creek, SC; a brother, Dean Sutherland and wife Jan of Massanutten; a brother-in-law, William “Bill” Rader and wife Pam of Troutville; four grandchildren, Jensen Ford Ratliff and husband Hunter, Jenifer Ford and fiancée Cody Cubbage, Cheyenne Smith and husband Davey, and Bennett Reid Powers; two great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated.
