TERESA MCPEAK THOMPSON, 72, of Bland, VA, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2024 in the Carilion New River Valley Hospice/Palliative Care unit.
She was born January 1, 1952 in Bland County, the daughter of the late Paul Hoover McPeak and Betty Lane McPeak Burton.
Besides her parents, Teresa was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Thompson and her daughter, Melanie Thompson.
Teresa enjoyed working in her garden and was very fond of her “apple orchard.” She found great joy in listening to her favorite artist, Elvis Presley, whether it be his gospel or rock and roll music.
Teresa worked as a Registered Nurse for many years. She found joy working in home health and was the epidemiology nurse at Bland County Health Department, serving Southwest Virginia, until her retirement in 2013.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons & daughter-in-law, Timothy & Layla Thompson, of Bland and Chad Thompson, of Bristol, VA; her grandchildren, Tia Thompson, of Radford, Cora Thompson, of Bristol, Tyler Thompson and Tristen Thompson, both of Bland; her great-granddaughter, Paisley Thompson, of Bland; her sister & brother-in-law, Paula & Randy Dillow, of Wytheville; her “furbabies,” “Kupo” and “Birdie”; and several special nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved dearly.
Honoring her wishes, Teresa will be cremated. A memorial service in remembrance of Teresa’s life is planned for Thursday, January 2, 2025 at 12:00 P.M. at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, White Gate, with Pastor Cliff Bowman officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 A.M. until service time, 12:00 P.M.
