Terry Thomas Wade

Terry Thomas Wade, Sr., 77, a lifetime Fieldale boy, passed away on August 18, 2025. He was born on March 22, 1948, to the late Everett Thomas Wade and Effie Marie Frith Wade. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Jane Moyer Wade.

Terry spent many years working as a carpenter for Henry County Public Schools, where his skillful hands created desks, cabinets, and other furniture. His love of woodworking carried into his home life as well, where he crafted clocks and other pieces for his family. He was a longtime member of the Fieldale Garden Club, where he built lasting friendships. In his younger days, Terry enjoyed the quiet of hunting and fishing, and later found joy in tending his garden, canning vegetables, and keeping his yard and home in order. Some of his children’s happiest memories are of time spent in the kitchen with him, cooking Saturday casseroles that would carry them through the week—simple meals that became lasting memories. Terry had a way of reminding those around him not to dwell on life’s troubles. His personality and humorous nature coined him the nickname, “Goofy” and when things went astray, he would simply smile and say, “Might as well laugh about it.”

Terry leaves behind a loving family to cherish his legacy: children; Virginia Hundley (Robert) and Terry Thomas Wade, Jr. (Jenny); grandchildren, Allyson Hundley, Andrew Hundley, Kailey Wade, Gabriel Wade, Mackenzie Corum, and William Wade; best friend, Ronnie Wray; and a host of extended family and friends.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, at Norris Funeral Services – Martinsville. The Funeral will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at Norris Funeral Services – Martinsville, with Pastor David Deisher officiating. The burial will follow at Roselawn Burial Park.
