Thalia Perdue Huff

November 30, 1935 - May 21, 2023

In the early morning hours of May 21, 2023, Thalia Mae Huff left this earth for her eternal home in Heaven. Thalia was born November 30, 1935, to the late Walter Houston Perdue and Stella Taylor Perdue in Ironto, VA. Thalia spent most of her younger years ministering and teaching the Word of God. She taught adult Sunday School, was a youth group leader, and worked with Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF). As she got older, she loved spending time with her family, gardening, "playing" in her flower beds, watching the birds, card games with her husband and friends, board games and puzzles with her children and grandchildren, and fellowship with the ladies from church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her older siblings: Cynthia Northcross, W.G. Perdue, Paul E. Perdue; infant brother, Travis Perdue; sons-in-law, Daniel McLaren and Kevin Sheppard; grandson, Brian Conner.

She lives on through her loving and devoted husband of 69 years, Glenn Thomas (Tom) Huff; their daughters, Susan McLaren and Teresa Sheppard; their granddaughters, Whitney McIlhany, Ashley (Jeremy) Luck, Emily (Travis) Bryant, Kim (Steve) Hilla, Kayla (Adam) Battle; their great-grandchildren, Caleb, Ethan, Lachlan, Iain, Natalie, Kyleigh, Layla, Kellen, and Luca; her younger brother, Everett Perdue; and sister in law, Betty McNeely; and special friend and neighbor, Tony Lephew; numerous other family and friends.

A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, VA, with Pastor John Collins officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem.

Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at the funeral home.
