Thelma Lorraine Parker Hines

September 18, 1929 - July 8, 2024

Thelma Lorraine Parker Hines, 94, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 18, 1929, in Danville, VA to the late Mary Owen Parker and the late John Allen Parker.

Thelma was of the Christian faith and a member of Mt. Olivet Methodist Church. She worked for many years as a Cashier and Hostess at the King of the Sea and other restaurants as well previous to her retirement. She had a special love for gardening, and she loved cooking and taking care of her family.

Thelma is survived by a daughter; Deborah H. Ankofski and husband Paul of Danville, VA; a son; Rick Hines and wife Jennie of Myrtle Beach, SC; five grandchildren; Megan Ankofski, Natalie Babcock (Nate), Deborah Winstead (Mike), Jesse Hines (Whitney), and Rachel Beacham (Brad); and eleven great grandchildren; special niece; Janell Watson; and special friend; Linda Hoskins.

In addition to her parents, Thelma was predeceased by five sisters; Betty E. Davidson, Gaynell P. Lyman, Jean P. Gauldin, Hazel P. Tapp, and Nell P. Thomas; five brothers; Harry O. Parker, Roy A. Parker, John A. Parker Jr., Vernell A. Parker, and George W. Parker.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the loving staff at Roman Eagle Nursing Home on the East Wing. Also a special thanks to CNA Tina Carter.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to the Danville Life Saving Crew, 202 Christopher Lane, Danville, VA 24541.

A Graveside Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024 at 11:00am, at Highland Burial Park, Danville, VA, with Pastor Mike Wiles Officiating. A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024 from 6-7:30pm at Norris Funeral Services Inc., Mt. Hermon Chapel, 3995 Franklin Turnpike, Danville, VA 24540. At other times the family will receive friends at the residence of her Daughter, Mrs. Deborah H. Ankofski.
