Theresa Marie Merritt

Theresa Marie Merritt, 68, of Martinsville, Virginia, transitioned to her heavenly home Tuesday, August 12, 2025. She was born October 5, 1956, in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, to the late Harold Merritt and Elsie Wade Pettie.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Brian Merritt.

Theresa was a well-loved member of Shiloh Way of the Cross Church and was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She was always helping others and would give anyone the shoes off her feet if they were in need. Theresa loved her family and spending time with them, especially her grandchildren. She loved to shop and to cook delicious meals for those she loved. Theresa was a hard worker and was always the glue that held her family together.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Terricka Merritt; sister Winifred Merritt; brother, Lionel Merritt; grandchildren, Niasia Merritt, Niema Merritt, Nijel Merritt, and Nilan Merritt.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Bishop Early Dillard officiating. A visitation will be held one-half hour prior to the service.
