Thomas Bennie Nelson

Thomas Bennie Nelson, 65, of Spencer, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2022. He was preceded in death by his father, Bennie Ray Nelson of Spencer. Tommy was a 1976 graduate of G. W. Carver High School where he was on the golf team and was co-captain of the varsity basketball team. He was a member of Friendly Christian Church in Martinsville. He previously owned a landscaping business. Tommy is survived by his daughter, Jessica Lucas of Martinsville; grandchildren, Kaden, Kayleigh and Kendall Lucas of Martinsville; mother, Valeria Ann Nelson of Spencer; brother, Ray M. Nelson (Laura) of Midlothian; sister, Joyce Nelson Harville (Timmy) of Dinwiddie; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 17, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Friendly Christian Church, 735 Friendly Church Road, Martinsville, Virginia 24112.
