Thomas Carroll Newbill

Thomas Carroll Newbill, Jr., age 89 of Hardy passed away on Friday, May 9, 2025 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Carroll Newbill, Sr. and Annie Tatum Ferguson Newbill; and his sister, Annie Tatum Newbill Saunders. He is survived by his wife, Sallie Puller Newbill; his daughter, Sallie Gillam Stone; his son Thomas Carroll Newbill, III and his wife Adrienne; three grandchildren, Thomas Stone, Remington Newbill and Ella Newbill; and many nieces and nephews. Tom, a native of Franklin County, graduated from Franklin County High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and earned a master’s in business administration from Georgia State University. He also served in the 2nd Armor Division of the US Army. Tom and Sallie returned to Franklin County in 1996 after 36 years in Atlanta, GA. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 with Rev. Jae Song officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Burnt Chimney Volunteer Fire Department. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
