Thomas Carter Graydon
Thomas Carter Graydon unexpectedly and tragically passed away in his apartment in Seattle, WA, Saturday, December 23, 2023, at the age of 34. He was born March 18, 1989, in Olympia Fields, Illinois. He spent most of his childhood in Milton, NC, and graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts in Management and Society in 2013. His death leaves friends and family reeling from the devastating loss of a life gone far too soon.
Private and individualistic, Thomas Carter was also a generous, caring, creative, passionate, and humorous man who was cherished by friends and family. He was beloved by his colleagues and excelled as a system engineer for Makers Architecture and Urban Design. He devoted himself to developing friendships, advancing his abilities in his work, and maintaining a heart of compassion for those he saw suffering around him. He had two beautiful cats, Katia and Korvo, whom he adored and spared no expense on their comfort and welfare.
From a young age, his creativity was obvious. His drawings were intricate and imaginative. He wrote a fantasy book in his early teens. Woodworking and building things brought him happiness, and he created and built for others to show his love for them. He loved gaming as a way to unwind and bond with close family and friends. He was an avid collector of shoes and Legos, and obtained an impressive collection he cared for meticulously and proudly displayed. An amateur food connoisseur, he enjoyed cooking for friends and family, as well as taking them to his favorite restaurants, cafes, bakeries, and sharing his love of food as an expression of love for them, more often than not insisting he pay. Quick to drop everything and eager to help a friend in need, his generosity was boundless, often sending expensive gifts and spending hours on end to show his care for those he loved. He liked hiking, exploring nature, and ice skating with friends, while also pursuing martial arts in his free time. He loved music of many genres, and had a special affinity for electronic dance music (EDM). Some of his favorite artists were San Holo, Juice Wrld, Phoenix, and The Killers. Tattoos were an important part of his creative expression, and he found great joy and pride in every new art piece, carefully selecting each highly acclaimed artist with whom he collaborated.
He was preceded in death by his niece Zoe Bowman and nephew Asher Graydon. He is survived by his parents, Stuart and Judy Graydon, as well as his siblings and their spouses, Suzanne Graydon, Denise (Jonathan) Wilson, Karen (Seth) Robinson, Stuart (Haley) Graydon, Crystal (Joe) Jellison, Mary (Fred) Bowman, and Noah Graydon, along with eight nieces and eight nephews.
