Thomas John Hodgert
Thomas “Tommy” John Hodgert, 64 of Rustburg, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025.
He was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 16, 1960, son of the late James C. Hodgert and the late Kathleen T. Hodgert.
Tommy worked in transportation for the Lynchburg City School system and Liberty University, but will best be remembered as “Tommy, the Bartender”.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Debra A. Hodgert; a daughter, Missy Litchford and husband Ryan; a son, Michael Hodgert; a brother, Jerry Hodgert; three grandchildren, Daegan, Taylor, and Rylee, and two nephews, Cal and Harry.
Everyone who knew Tommy, loved him. He had an infectious smile and an unmatched ability to bring fun and laughter to every situation. Whether it was his playful humor, endless stories, or perfectly timed joke, he had a knack for making people feel welcomed and loved. His love of life wasn’t just contagious - it was unforgettable, leaving a mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
A celebration of Tommy’s life will be held at a later date where stories, laughter, and love will honor the legacy of a good man who taught us all the power of a good laugh and a kind heart.
