Thomas William Prevette

December 10, 1942 - January 16, 2024

Thomas William Prevette, 81, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, after a lengthy decline in health.

Tom was born December 10, 1942 in Raleigh, NC to the late Cleo Fowler Pruitt. He spent his early years in the Raleigh area. Tom served in the U.S. Navy, aboard the aircraft carrier Shangri-La CV-38 from 1960-1966. After his service years, he came to Danville, VA, where he met and married his first wife Leatha Faye New, who prececeased him. Tom and Faye were blessed with four children. His early life employment included Coca Cola Bottling Company, Corning Glass and Brockway. As he followed his passion and love for dogs and dog training, he established “K-9 Security Force” which he owned and operated until his decline in health forced his retirement. Tom loved to train dogs and people loved to see his “Canine partners”. His dogs often received the highest scores during the state certification evaluations.

Tom was an active member of County Line Christian Church but most important, he loved God and his Savior Jesus Christ. This was very apparent after he rededicated his life to God. He developed a love for listening to and singing gospel music, which he shared in person as well as through his homemade practice CD’s.

His survivors include his second wife of 32 years, Patricia E. Prevette; A son, Guy Prevette; stepson; Brett Pritchett (Stacie); three daughters; Candace Erb, Ginger Spicer (Brian) and Crystal Prevette (Richie); nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren (soon to be eight with one due to arrive in March).

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to your local animal shelter, church, or charity of your choice.

A Celebration of Tom’s Life will be held at a later date.
