Timothy "Tim" L. McKenzie

Timothy “Tim” L. McKenzie, 61, husband of Teresa Buchanan McKenzie, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 4, 2026. He was the son of the late Jack T. and Cora Bea McKenzie Funk. Tim was also preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Lee McKenzie.

Tim is a God called minister of the Gospel through and through. He had a minister’s heart and loved serving the Lord by serving and ministering to God’s people. He served on staff at New Life Christian Ministries in Roanoke for 8 years prior to planting New Life Church in Boones Mill for the last seven years.

He will be missed and remembered by his wife of 13 years, Teresa; daughter, Amanda McKenzie; sister, Elizabeth Southwood; nieces, Santana Venezian and Summer Fogg; nephew, Scott Reedy; brother, Jack T. McKenzie, Jr.; nieces, Erica, Stephanie, and Victoria; nephew, Oliver; aunt, Elva Southern; cousin, Sandra Via; as well as numerous friends, church members, and fellow ministers, all of whom were impacted by Tim’s life.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 8, 2026 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road.

Services to honor and celebrate his life will be held at 1 pm on Friday, January 9, 2026 at New Life Church in Boones Mill, VA with Pastor Gary Alls officiating. Interment will be private.
