Tracey Sumpter Perdue

May 15, 1966 - May 11, 2025

TRACEY SUMPTER PERDUE, 58, of Crewe, VA, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at her mother’s home, surrounded by her family.

Born on May 15, 1966 in Pearisburg, VA, she was the daughter of Steven Murriel Sumpter and Margaret Page Sumpter. Besides her father, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Tannor Perdue, and her grandparents, Wise & June Brown Sumpter and George & Thelma Hopkins Page.

Tracey was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God; and her passing has left a void in the hearts of family and friends. She truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures: chatting/texting with friends and family, snacking, game nights with family, shopping, family adventures, and late nights spent laughing and taking funny pictures with her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Christopher Todd Perdue; mother, Margaret Page Sumpter; sister, Lorrie Sumpter; niece, Morgan Sumpter Stephens and Lee; grand-nephew Parker Stephens; mother-in-law, Jackie Langford Venteicher (Roger); father-in-law, Roby Perdue; sister-in-law, Michelle Perdue Songer (Bill); a whole bunch of cousins; and aunts Lena Sumpter Haymaker and Sandra Sumpter Condrey.

Per Tracey’s wishes, she will be cremated. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 16, 2025 at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, for a time of visiting, from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM. The family invites you to come as you are to not feel required to dress up. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. We ask that you remember her not for the way her life ended, but for the way it was lived and for the profound impact she had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Let us not lose ourselves in the sorrow of loss but rather find comfort in the memories we shared – the laughter, the tears, the love.

The family suggests that no flowers be sent for the visiting hours, but memorial donations may be made in Tracey’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, stjude.org, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

The Perdue family is in the care of A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate, avestandsons.com, (540) 921-2985.
