Vance Alan Hebda was born in Uniontown Pennsylvania on July 8th, 1958, to his parents, Chester V. Hebda senior and Margaret M. Hebda. He was the third of five children with four brothers and a sister. He graduated from Laurel Highlands High School in 1976. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1976 to 1980. He received an associate degree in criminal justice from Pennsylvania State university. He was an Investigator for the U.S. Department of Justice Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Washington Field Division.

He was preceded in death by his father Chester V. Hebda Sr., mother Margaret M. Hebda, and brother, Victor C. Hebda. He is survived by his elder brother Chester V. Hebda Jr., younger brother Barry P. Hebda Sr., nephew Barry P. Hebda Jr., niece Jennifer Hebda, youngest sister Dr. Ann N. Hebda, Brother-in-law Chong-Ket Chuah, niece Victoria Y. Chuah, and nephew Luke S. Chuah.

Vance passed away on May 14th, 2024, at 7:46 PM after bravely battling glioblastoma. Donations to Blue Ridge Hospice at BlueRidgeHospice.org in Vance’s name would be greatly appreciated.

A mass will be held at 12 noon, Thursday, May 23, 2024 at the Basilica of Saint Andrew, 631 N Jefferson St, Roanoke, VA 24016 with Father Kevin Segerblom officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm, Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Lotz Funeral Home, 1001 Franklin Road, Roanoke.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon, Friday, May 31, 2024 at Culpeper National Cemetery Annex, 501 East Chandler Street, Culpeper, VA 22701 with military honors.
