Velda Thomas Webster

Velda Thomas Webster, age 94 of Boones Mill, Virginia went to be with her Lord on Saturday, September 3, 2022. She loved God, her family and her church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Joseph S. “Billy” Webster, parents, Thaddeus Millard Thomas and Stella DeLancy Thomas Flora; step-father, Clarence Flora; brothers, Jesse Thomas and Bruce Thomas; step-brothers, Russell , Elvis and Berlin Flora; step-sisters, Hazel Scott, Reba Flora and Lottie Jamison, son-in-law, Bud Wilson, Sr. Surviving Velda are her brother, Glenn Thomas (Pearl); sister-in-law, Arlene Thomas; step-sister, Nelda Cannaday; brother-in-law, Saunders Webster (Geraldine); her children, Shirley Wilson and Rhonda Sloan (Eric); grandchildren, Brandon Sloan (April), Morgan Okenquist (Michael); great-grandsons, Carter  Sloan and Devin Sloan, step-grandsons, Bud Wilson Jr. and Troy Wilson, both of N.C. Early in life she was employed for the Appalachian Power Co. and later for Heironimus Department Store and Belk. Velda was the caregiver for her mother and also for her husband. She was a long-time member of Fairmont Baptist Church, and held many positions through the years, while she could. Graveside services will be conducted at Fairmont Baptist Church Cemetery, 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 9, 2022. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fairmont Baptist Church Building Fund, 1669 Bethlehem Road, Boones Mill, VA  24065. Please observe Covid precaution guidelines as the family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
